Harvey Bluestein, M.D.

Dr. Bluestein is Board-Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He serves as Chief of the Section of Plastic Surgery at Bridgeport Hospital. For each year since 2004, he has been selected by his peers as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. He has been featured as a Top Doctor in New York and Connecticut Magazine.

Dr. Bluestein's passion for medicine and precision was profoundly shaped by his paternal grandmother, an immigrant from Hungary and a master seamstress, who instilled invaluable skills and an enduring commitment to meticulous attention. Her teachings extended to sewing, emphasizing precision, and continue to influence his approach to patient care. Additionally, guided by his father, a pediatrician, Dr. Bluestein adopted two foundational principles: "Treat patients, not problems" and "Spend as much time as needed with patients." These principles are at the core of his patient-centered approach, ensuring that each individual receives the personalized attention and compassion they deserve. His father, with expertise in pediatric care, also imparted essential knowledge on how to care for children, further enriching Dr. Bluestein's comprehensive approach to patient well-being.

His impressive journey in the field of medicine began with a B.S. in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University, followed by earning his M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He furthered his expertise through General Surgery training at the Yale Regional Program at Bridgeport Hospital. Driven by a passion for advancing medical knowledge, he embarked on a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Yale University, focusing on wound healing research.

His dedication led him to complete his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, followed by specialized training as a fellow in Hand and Microsurgery at Yale School of Medicine. Since 1999, Dr. Bluestein has maintained a highly personalized practice in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Over the years, his passion for plastic surgery has driven him to specialize in several key areas that can significantly benefit his patients. A list of procedures Dr. Bluestein focuses on appears on the homepage. He cares for patients of all ages, ranging from babies to centenarians.
